Currently, in Korean society concern about juvenile delinquency is increasing, which lead to tough on crime policy using harsh punishment. However, research results point out that recovering relationship between youth and parents and preventing runaway are important to prevent juvenile delinquency. Especially, youth runaway needs to be addressed for protecting at risk youth. As the rapid development of information enables youth who has problem with parents to gain various method for survival in society, youth are more likely to leave home instead of solving problems than previous generation. As problem with parents and runaway are strong factors which affect youth crime, these factors need to be addressed. This study especially focused on juveniles in 6th youth facility which house youth of early stage of delinquency and examined factors affecting their runaway and delinquency. 242 youth from five youth facilities participated in survey. Based on research results, four policy implications are provided. First, runaway prevention program needs to be developed and implemented in middle school. Second, programs for improving youth and parents relationship needs to be introduced for 6th facilities as well as school settings. Third, special care and support should be provided for youth who has many runaway experiences. Forth, for youth whose parents are divorced, school counseling and family counseling need to be provided in order to prevent runaway and juvenile delinquency.
